Patricia Ha Starts Work on TVB’s “Reversal of Fate”

Patricia Ha Starts Work on TVB’s “Reversal of Fate”

Veteran actress Patricia Ha (夏文汐) has officially started work on her first TVB drama Reversal of Fate <逆緣>, a fantasy drama produced by Amy Wong (王心慰). The 51-year-old actress will have a romance with her male lead Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), but the costars haven’t delved too deep into that relationship yet.

Yesterday, Patricia and Wayne shot a simple scene of their characters meeting in the rain. Patricia’s left foot was bandaged; she explained that she twisted her ankle, and was in the process of moving apartments.

In regards to her first collaboration with Wayne, Patricia said, “The feeling is great. We haven’t gotten to the point where our characters would interact at a more emotional level. The director wants us to take it slowly.”

Asking if Patricia is getting used to TVB’s long filming schedule, the actress shared, “I’ll warm up to it. Right now the longest I’ve had to film was twelve hours. I’ll be starting my main scenes next week, and I expect to have all-day schedules for the next two months.”

Patricia thanked TVB executive Virginia Lok (樂易玲) and producer Amy Wong for helping her ease into her role. “The problems I’ve come across were minor. I had trouble with a scene with Lai Lok-yi (黎耀祥), but after discussing it with them, we got it in our second try.”

Mentioning the hot weather, Patricia said, “It’s my worst pain. Even the wind is hot. I’m so impressed at Lai Lok-yi for not sweating even after four hours of filming. He can’t be real! It turns out that the secret is to stay still.”

As for working with Patricia for the first time, Wayne praised, “After all these years, she’s still so mysterious and cool. She’s probably not used to TVB’s filming schedule yet, so she may find it a little more difficult to do. I’m surprised at how easy-going she is. I used to think she’s really cool, but we ended up having many topics to talk about.”

Reversal of Fate stars Carlos Chan (陳家樂) as a man from the 1940’s who, after waking up from his cryogenic sleep, ends up in present-day Hong Kong. He meets his son (portrayed by John Chiang 姜大衛) grandson (Wayne Lai), who helps him ease into modern society. Rosina Lam (林夏薇), Elvina Kong (江欣燕), and Joel Chan (陳山聰) also star.

Lai Lok Yi Will Not Physically Discipline Son

Lai Lok Yi Will Not Physically Discipline Son

New father Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿) is ecstatic about his new role as a parent and has been extremely hands-on when it comes to caring for his three-month-old son. Lok Yi shared, “Right now, I can tell by my son’s crying pitch whether he is hungry, sleepy, or needs a diaper change!”

Asked about his thoughts on a trending video in which a child was physically abused, Lok Yi said, “Violence should not be used towards a small child, an adult, or an animal. The first person to raise a fist is in the wrong. There’s nothing that can’t be resolved.”

When asked whether he will physically discipline his son in the future, Lok Yi said, “I don’t think my son will be more rowdy than I was. Besides, small children do not understand [what is right or wrong]. I will patiently teach him with words, just like how my wife and I teach our dog. My wife treats me that way too and uses the nagging tactic. She’ll nag the dog for an hour and nag me for two hours. Not letting me sleep is torture. Now I’ve learned to not argue with her!”

Grace Chan (陳凱琳) was also a guest at the event. When teased whether she will employ Lok Yi’s wife Nicole Lee’s (李潔瑩) nagging tactic to get her way too, Grace cheekily said, “I don’t own a dog! I know what you are really asking, but I’m not answering!”

Lai Lok-yi Wants a Second Child, Roxanne Tong Confirms Boyfriend is from the Industry

Lai Lok-yi Wants a Second Child, Roxanne Tong Confirms Boyfriend is from the Industry

Nancy Sit (薛家燕), Lai Lok-yi (黎諾懿), and Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯) met up with the press while filming TVB’s Brilliant Mother-in-Law <燦爛的外母>, a comedy drama that stars Nancy as a stern mother-in-law.

“Everyone is happy when you get married, but the real drama starts right after,” said Lok-yi with a laugh.

Lok-yi and his wife, Nicole Lee (李潔瑩), welcomed their first child together, a son they nicknamed “Little Spring Chicken”, two months ago. Thanks to his own mother-in-law, who he thinks is truly brilliant, Lok-yi was able to find time to film the TVB show.

“I would be dead without my mother-in-law!” he said. I wouldn’t have accepted the filming offer if it wasn’t for her. Because the baby is only two months old, and it’s my wife’s first child, so she’s not very experienced. My mother-in-law has been around to take care of us. She also helped out with the cooking, and I’ve definitely benefitted from that!”

Unlike in the TVB series, Lok-yi has a very comfortable relationship with his father and mother-in-law. “They’ve been taking care of us really well. With them around, I don’t have anything to worry at all. With a mother-in-law like her, we should have more babies! Haha!” Lok-yi then admitted that he wants to have a daughter, and that he and his wife plan to chase for a second baby in two years. “It’s the year of the pig. My wife is a pig too.”

Lok-yi said his family won’t be organizing a hundred-days banquet for Little Spring Chicken. He said, “He’s still very young. We’ll wait until his first birthday.”

Roxanne Tong Revealed to Be Dating a Fellow Entertainer

Roxanne, who plays Lok-yi’s wife on the show, expressed that she would not mind a “flash marriage” when she comes across the man of her dreams. Asking if she’s hinting that she has already found a special someone, she admitted, “We’re getting to know each other.”

Though Roxanne refused to elaborate on who that special someone may be, Lok-yi blurted out the answer for her. “I’m guessing he’s from the industry. I probably know him too. If his last name is not Chan, then it’s Cheung or Law. You know, those big names.”

Expressing that their relationship is developing well, Roxanne will announce the news when the time is right.

Nancy Sit to Soon Be a Mother-in-Law

Nancy will soon become a mother-in-law herself, as her 31-year-old son will be getting married next year. While excited for her son, Nancy exclaimed that there are many things to consider when planning a wedding. “I don’t want it to come too soon!” she said.

The wedding will be planned for next May or June. The venue, however, has not been decided. Asking if Nancy would invite her ex-husband to the wedding as well, she said, “Still thinking about it. My son and his father are in contact.”

Wayne Lai, Patrica Ha, and Carlos Chan to Star in New TVB Drama “Reversal of Fate”

Wayne Lai, Patrica Ha, and Carlos Chan to Star in New TVB Drama “Reversal of Fate”

Amy Wong’s (王心慰) new effort Reversal of Fate <逆緣> is set to begin production, and TVB has finalized its official cast members.

Last week, Hong Kong media outlet Oriental Daily revealed that Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Rosina Lam (林夏薇) and Patricia Ha (夏文汐) as the stars in Amy Wong’s new drama for TVB. Reversal of Fate will be Pat’s first TVB drama since her film debut in 1982. The 51-year-old has had an on-and-off acting career in the past thirty years.

Yesterday, TVB confirmed the remaining cast members with the announcement of EEG’s Carlos Chan (陳家樂), Joel Chan (陳山聰) and Kandy Wong (糖妹). John Chiang (姜大衛) and Lai Lok-yi (黎諾懿) will costar.

Reversal of Fate is a fantasy comedy that follows a man from the 1940’s, who after waking up from his comatose state finds himself in present-day Hong Kong. As he struggles to adapt to modern society, the man also starts to experience how the values of humanity have changed over the years.

Carlos Chan and Rosina Lam will portray a couple. Joel Chan and Kandy Wong will also have a love line. The 40-year-old actor said he didn’t know Kandy was only 29 years old until reporters pointed out their age difference. Asking if Kandy would be too “young and cute” for him, Joel immediately said, “Am I not young? It’s [a good change]!” He added that he will be sharing many scenes with Rosina as well, and is excited for their new team up. “I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of new sparks,” he said.

Reversal of Fate will be Joel’s first collaboration with both Wayne and Pat. He shared, “There are many people in the cast whom I haven’t worked with before, especially Wayne Lai! I’ve been wanting to work with him for so long!”

Despite his romantic storyline with Kandy, most of Joel’s scenes will be with EEG star Carlos Chan. Is Joel planning to take care of him and mentor him? “There’s no need for that! He has many experience in movies. We will share our experiences together.”

Reversal of Fate is Carlos’ first TVB drama since 2008’s Dressage to Win <盛裝舞步愛作戰>. Describing his return to TVB as “coming back home”, the 30-year-old is filled with anticipation, like a primary school kid. “I’ve been asking many seniors for tips, and they’ve all told me to rest wisely.”

Carlos will be spending the next three months filming the show. As he wants to concentrate on his role, he won’t be accepting any other job offers in the meantime. He had to turn down a few movie offers to accept his role in Reversal of Fate.

“It’s okay!” he said when asked if he had lost a good sum of money from rejecting offers. “You can always earn that back. I just really want to concentrate on doing the role right.”
