Myolie Wu Breastfeeds in Front of Friends

Myolie Wu Breastfeeds in Front of Friends

Since giving birth to her son Brendan in October, Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) attended her first public event. The radiant first-time mother seemed to have returned to her pre-pregnancy weight already. However, Myolie clarified that she still needs to work on losing a few more pounds.

Having just completed her post-pregnancy one-month confinement, the 38-year-old actress was quick to return to work. “I didn’t think it was going to be so quick either. I was just thinking about having the opportunity to see Sun Li (孫儷).”

Known for being a sweet and caring husband, did Philip Lee (李乘德) insist that she take more time to rest? Myolie said, “He lets me decide. I’m afraid of being bored and breastfeeding is very exhausting. There is no time for sleeping. I’m giving my baby boy all of my fat and water content. He’s nearly 12 pounds!”

Although she intends to return to work, will she be reducing her workload to be a more involved mother? Notorious for being a workaholic, Myolie said, “I can’t accept any jobs that require an extended amount of time. I have to breastfeed for half a year. I hope to be a working mom though, so I will work part-time.”

Earlier, it was reported that she breastfeeds in front of her girlfriends in the Nonsense Club. Though the issue of breastfeeding in public remains controversial, Myolie shared, “Yes, I’m very open [about it]. It is convenient for me at home and I’m very close to my girlfriends. I was afraid of scaring them, because [my breasts] are so large now! I want to encourage them to breastfeed too.”

Myolie Wu Announces Gender of Baby!

They’ve finally announced it!

Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), who will be giving birth next month, has kept the gender of her baby tight-lipped ever since she confirmed her pregnancy in May 2017. After holding their baby shower this past weekend, Myolie and her husband Philip Lee (李乘德) are finally ready to announce that the gender of their firstborn child is a baby boy!

This announce didn’t come to a surprise. If you follow Philip’s Instagram, the businessman has left hints here and there that the baby is a boy. The biggest clue that he dropped was a photo of some baby clothes.

Nothing Gold Can Stay: Deng Chao “Apologizes” to Male Cast Members on Behalf of Sun Li

August 30th was the big premiere day for Sun Li’s (孙俪) latest television drama Nothing Gold Can Stay <那年花开月正圆>, a turn-of-the-century story about a strong woman who breaks societal expectations and conventions to start her own business. The period drama also stars Chen Xiao (陈晓), Peter Ho (何潤東), Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), Ren Zhong (任重), and Yu Haoming (俞灏明).

Sun Li portrays Zhou Ying, a strong-willed, non-traditional Shaanxi woman who overcomes barriers to become the first female pupil of the Wu family. She strikes an interesting friendship with the second young master Chen Xinyi (Chen Xiao) and Wu Pin (Peter Ho), bringing out her straightforward personality. Zhou Ying grew up as a fighter, and often breaks into physical altercations with men.

Sun Li herself has described her role “a bit like the sassy girlfriend, probably the most disobedient woman in the entire city.” In a society women are expected to stay at home and raise children, Zhou Ying is a fighter and longs to take control of her own life.

Deng Chao (邓超), Sun Li’s husband, promoted the drama on his Weibo, writing, “As her husband I apologize to all the men she had beaten up [on the show].”

Netizens joked along. One wrote, “To promote his wife’s new drama, he really sacrificed everything.” Another commented, “You of all people have all the right to talk about this.”

Nothing Gold Can Change airs on Dragon TV, Jiang TV, and Tencent Video.

The story follows the life of Zhou Ying (Sun Li), the richest merchant in the late Qing dynasty. She marries Wu Ping (Peter Ho) to help him ward off bad luck, yet his untimely death means she has to take over the family business, much to the dismay of his greedy relatives. Unfortunately the journey is far from smooth – there’s the feud with the Shen family, political machinations in the royal court, and the betrayals by Wu Ping’s secret admirer Hu Yongmei (Myolie Wu) and his sister Wu Yi (Zeng Qi).

Shen Xingyi (Chen Xiao) is a sheltered and happy-go-lucky young lad who doesn’t get involved in his family business until much later, though the hatred between the two households doesn’t stop him from pursuing Zhou Ying.

7-Month Pregnant Myolie Wu Promotes Drama in Guangzhou

7-Month Pregnant Myolie Wu Promotes Drama in Guangzhou

Even in her last trimester of pregnancy, Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) has continued to work. Myolie completed a travelogue in Australia with good friends Nancy Wu(胡定欣) and Selena Li (李施嬅) recently. Today, she appeared in Guangzhou to promote her new Mainland drama, Nothing Gold Can Stay <那年花開月正圓>.

Myolie had spent over six months working on Nothing Gold Can Stay, while juggling jobs between Hong Kong and Mainland China from the end of 2016 to the spring of this year. Despite this, Myolie thoroughly enjoyed the filming experience and was thankful to have the opportunity to work with such a talented cast and crew.

Myolie said, “I personally really admire Sun Li (孫儷) and working with her made me realize how professional of an actress she was. She has a lot of big parts so she usually does 10 to 20 scenes a day. But she’s very professional – there are no outtakes and she’s always ready and prepared. I’m very happy to have been able to work with such a great actress.”

In the series, Myolie plays Hu Yong Mei, the elegant and kind-hearted daughter of a wealthy businessman who falls in love with her childhood friend, Wu Ping (Peter Ho 何潤東). Unfortunately, with the appearance of Sun Li’s character, Myolie’s relationship with Peter makes a turn for the worst.

On working with Peter, Myolie said, “Hu Yong Mei and Peter’s character, have been friends since they were young. He’s her knight in shining armor. Peter is definitely suited to play this character – he’s very cool!”
